Day 31 - Reflection

A reflection of the past 30 days!

But before that, I must tell you what I had for Breakfast! See, what you do for a continuous 30 days becomes a HABIT. Being the weekend, I prepared French Toast for the family!

 French Toast...with Honey!

After Breakfast, I had an appointment near the Zoo, not the Zoo but near! It was in Taman Permata

Lunch was the VVP with Biosoy. In the evening, I cooked curry chicken with the A1 curry paste ( I know...Cheating!) And was too lazy to cook rice...so went to the freezer for the frozen Chapati. So easy, just throw in a preheated pan and in 2 minutes its ready! Presenting...My Chapati dish...

  Chapati with Curry Chicken

REFLECTION:-

My initial goal on the 1st of July was to go through a 10 Day Detox. I had chosen the easiest way because I travel and have numerous appointments in Cafe's , Kopitiams and Restaurants. Not at all an ideal platform for a Diet plan! My Goal therefore was:-

    a) to Replace One (1) Meal a Day with the Viva's Vibrant Pack   (VVP), and it was flexible. I could choose either Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner.

   b) have some sort of an exercise plan going. I chose swimming.

   c) have home healthy homecooked meals as much as practicable.

That was it! Oh....and have fun doing it! I have a wonderful partnership going on with Lynn. She cooks...I eat! Ha ha ha. I'm a lucky guy!  ;-)

To overcome the monotony of taking the VVP Shake everyday, I experimented with various combinations. The base was One (1) scoop each of Green Barley, Fiber Cleanse & Viva plus in 400ml of water. (sometimes I add ice!). Later, I found that Two (2) scoops of the Viva plus was much better in terms of taste as well as effectiveness in keeping the hunger pangs away! Sometimes, I do feel hungry before my scheduled next meal. This is easily solved with a big glass of water or a fruit. After 30 days, this is the short summary:-

Did I manage to replace a meal everyday without fail? Errr......No. Did I manage to exercise everyday? Errrr....No. Did I manage to eat home cooked meals everyday? Errrr...No. Ai yo, fail on all account la! ;-(

But my Belt Buckle went 3 notch tighter! The weighing scale showed 12lbs lighter!

So,

   Did I lose weight? YES.
   Did I lose inches? YES
   Did I gain energy? YES
   Did I have Fun? YES
Do I feel more Vibrant? YES
   Am I Sexier? Ask Lynn...;-)

I must say that I have expected the first 10 days to be tough. The blogging helped as I feel I'm being watched! So, the temptation to cheat or quit is much, much reduced!

As I mentioned in my post yesterday, what started as a 10 Day Diet Challenge, became a 30 Day romance with food! I became more appreciative of simple food and I enjoyed my meals a lot more than before. Yes, it is a Romance!

Lynn & I have decided to continue what we have been doing, but not as intensive or strict as before! Do the 10 Day Challenge Today!

Day 30!

Day 30!!!
After super the night before, I went for a swim in the morning and did 40 laps! To burn off the midnight food! ;-) Breakfast was 2 pieces of Gardenia bread ( ya, I know, boring! )  Got to get the special "Homebaked" bread from the cafeteria soon!

Lunch was the VVP and it was just after dropping my daughter and friends at the Bankers Club for their Prefects farewell party. They retire officially as prefects you see. 16 years old, retired already! How come when I retired as prefect in my school days, they didn't have any party??

Thereafter, I went to the Viva office as today was account closing day. Before I knew it, it was 6pm and it was time to wear my Taxi Driver hat again to fetch my daughter again. We came home to this...

Quiche

It was delicious! Best Wifey in the whole world! I had double servings!! This is how Lynn did it : http://lynnphua.blogspot.com/2010/07/day-30.html

What a month! It went by so quickly. What was to be a 10 Day Challenge, became a 30 Day Romance with Food!  :-)  Who says you have to sacrifice good food when you go on a diet plan? Or starve yourself, Or suffer? The VVP pack really make things so simple and easy! Today, I feel that my belt Buckle is almost loose enough to advance another notch tighter! If you are reading this, try out the Challenge for yourself for the next 10days. 1st August is a good date to start! "Yat Fatt" in cantonese! Start a blog too, just for the 10 days so that you won't cheat! ;-) All the best!

Day 29 - Part 2

Dinner was a delicious Porridge cooked by Lynn in a Crock Pot...

Yummy! :-)

Even though it was a "light" dinner I went for a night swim and did 40 laps in anticipation of the evening event!. I had an appointment with a Distributor's (Mr See) friend from Jitra, Kedah and we had arranged to meet him at his Hotel near Puduraya at 10.30pm. Mr See suggested the Famous "Sultan Street Claypot Loh See Fun"  for supper. Yes! SUPPER! I have not had supper for quite awhile, and definitely more than 30 days! Hence, the 40 laps in anticipation.

The Famous Restaurant

Before I could whip out the camera, it was GONE! :-)
It was that good! ;-)

My Bowl

I was quicker with the next dish...another Sultan Street Famous...

Very Delicious!

After Supper, it was time to finalize some business...but before I forget, we also bumped into a local Actor and his group of friends at the same restaurant and they ordered the same dishes we did! Copy cat!

On the way home...around midnight, I had an uneasy feeling in my stomach. Guess my system is not used to food late at night anymore! No more Supper for me! I went straight for the Floraguard as soon as I got home and the uneasy feeling went away in no time! "Always keep a bottle at home!" Told myself - must go for a swim 1st thing tomorrow...er...I mean this morning!

Day 29

Today will be a busy day as I have a few appointments lined up. So, I had the VVP for breakfast and went to the Viva office thereafter to do some work. There is also a lunch appointment at 12.30pm. We went to the Hailam Kopitiam just around the corner...

Day 28

Breakfast was 2 pieces of Gardenia brown bread ( I know, I know, not home baked anymore! The Cafeteria downstairs sold out their special bread... :-( .... I did say it was very good didn't I?) and a cup of hot cocoa drink. Lunch was the VVP. This time I added a scoop of Biosoy (Bio- Lecithin) and found the combination really nice!

I just noticed that my belt is now set at the tightest setting! I have lost a few inches!! My tight trousers are no longer bursting at the seams! ...and all these whilst missing the last 2 days of exercise too! ( Actually, in total, I have missed quite a few days of exercise). :-)

As my dear daughter is not going through the 10 Day Challenge, I prepared lunch for her before going out for an appointment. It was a simple noodle...

Wakame Noodle

Dinner was prepared with lots of Love & preparations by Lynn....I'm a happy camper! :-) <3

Day 27

Day 27! Just 3 more days and it'll be 1 month!

Today I had the "Homemade" bread for breakfast and the VVP for Lunch.

Dinner was a treat. Very simple and very delicious...cooked by my better half of course! :) This is how she did it: http://lynnphua.blogspot.com/2010/07/day-27-garlic-ginger-spaghetti-with.html

Yummy!

Day 26

It's Monday! The fun begins....Was trying hard to psych myself up to go to the gym today! Had the VVP shake for breakfast in preparation, but the gym seemed miles away... (actually, its just downstairs!) But, eventually I managed!

10 minutes and its time to rest...(learned how to take self pic using the mirror. :)

Had the gym all to myself

Then, to the pool to cool down and did 40 laps!

Prepared lunch for Justine - "Tomyam Mee Hoon"

At the same time I took the opportunity to prepare Dinner! A One Dish Dinner using the Crock Pot. Since we had so much meat lately, Lynn says we should just have vegetables. So, Its Tofu in Crock Pot!            1st put in the carrots...

Then, throw in everything!

5 hours later, mix in the vegetables (french beans & Chilli) and serve 10 mins later...

Dinner served! (couldn't resist the eyes!)

Day 25 Part 2

Lynn's Blog says it all! :-) There is something about a dish where everyone digs in at the same time! PAELLA!

The ingredients. Not in the right proportions! That part is Secret! ( No la, see Lynn's Blog)

   The cooking...

   The Anticipation...

   The serving...

     The Satisfied Customer (s)  :-)

In summary, I had the VVP for Lunch and overloaded myself for Dinner! Still, I'm within my goal of One (1) replaced meal a day! Exercise wise, not too great I'm afraid....NONE for the last 5 Days!!!! Ai yo, how like that? Have to do 100 laps a day for the next 5 days to catch up, :-o!

Day 24

Breakfast was VVP this morning and at 10.30am, as planned, I became Taxi driver for Justine and friends. Dropped them at SMK Subang Utama and proceeded to Kajang to fetch our Singaporean Guests. Time really flies! Their 1 week rejuvenating "Honeymoon" ends today and to celebrate, we went to Pizza San Francisco in Bangi for a truly wonderful lunch

We had rack of lamb, pizzas, spaghetti, fish, garlic bread etc...

Thereafter we accompanied our guests to the Plaza Rakyat Station to catch the 4pm coach to Singapore. Lynn and Hamidah have already made a pack for Hamidah to return and explore their culinary skills further...inspired by the lamb they just tasted! Lamb Biryani next??

"Life does not ask us to be the biggest or the tallest - It only ask that we try"

Day 23

Somehow I couldn't sleep last night. :(  The Biryani must have been really powerful! So, I made breakfast for Justine at 6am and prepared lunch for her to take to school. I made an egg sandwich with cheese - Justine's favorite. Finally went to bed at 7.30am and got up at the crack of noon! ;-)  At 1.30pm Lynn heated up the Biryani from last night for lunch. It was delicious as the rice had more flavour.

After lunch, I wore my taxi driver hat and sent Justine to tuition. Thereafter, I proceeded to Viva office for a meeting till 7pm. Just in time to put on the taxi driver hat again to pick up Justine from tuition. Would you believe she goes to another tuition centre at 8.18pm? :o She is catching up as well as making up for the session she's going to miss tomorrow. She is representing her school's Interact Club to an IU Day party in Subang. Ya, you guessed right, taxi hat again tomorrow! Sigh...what we do for our beloved daughter. ;-) . Actually, Lynn & I don't mind at all as Justine will soon be driving and we won't have the wonderful moments we have now, chatting with her in the car and digging out all secrets and gossips from her! I will be doing the chatting of course and Lynn, the interrogating! (Putting her legal experience to good use - ;-))

We came home after the 2nd tuition and as we opened the door to the house, this view greeted us!
My Sis-in-law - Dr. Carol Lai greeted us with a tupperware full of durians from segamat! There was another fruit on the floor waiting for me to do the opening ceremony! Dinner is served! Durian with rice!
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...It was really creamy and nice!

So, today I didn't take any VVP and no exercise :( .  TGIF!

Day 22

Today we have guests for dinner at home. So, I had toast for breakfast and the VVP for lunch. Went also to the pool and did 40 laps in the morning ...in preparation for yummy dinner tonight!

Dinner plan started with a discussion by the ladies and a bit of inspiration from Youtube ...

                               Its gonna be Briyani Chicken!

Just 1-1/2 hrs later its all ready to be served from the pot!

All decorated and served on a large platter. The wonderful aroma by now has filled the entire house making us really hungry!

My 5mins contribution - Onion yogurt

Finger licking good and full concentration!
